The GSA2000/20 : ArtGuard Series III
PRODUCT HISTORY
.
The ArtGuard System for the protection of paintings and antique objets d'art was first developed by Mike von Joel of PSi and David Prince of Simba Security in 1994.
Subsequently, the ArtGuard Series (1 & 2) was extensively and very successfully tested under the auspices of Simba Security Systems, a leading UK security provider since 1963, who were instrumental in aiding the development and professional profile of the product.
During this dynamic period under the direction of Mike von Joel, ArtGuard became an "endorsed product" at a number of major arts and cultural organisations as well as establishing a firm presence in the arena of professional security.
Additionally, ArtGuard has the privilege of being approved and recommended by a number of Police Forces across the UK via the Crime Prevention network and by CPO's at local level.
The flexibility of the product has resulted in many clients adapting the fundamental premise of the ArtGuard System. A myriad of "in the field" uses have been reported back to the company by customers who had previously been unable to support the financial costs of fixed, hard wired or infra-red alternatives. (To view some examples see: Feedback)
The GSA2000, Series 3 ArtGuard System (launched: April 2000) incorporates a number of technological advances and user-friendly operations developed as a direct result of client feedback (see Product Information).
Today each and every System is a bench made and tested product customised to individual customer requirements. The GSA2000 is fabricated in the UK by ArtGuard Security Systems with the technical collaboration of a leading British electronics company (founded 1960 -- other clients include IBM; ICL; Mitsubishi; Casio; Pentax; Cannon; Thorn EMI; the Home Office and the Ministry of Defence). There is no mass production or Far East generation whatsoever.
Already in use in major art galleries in London's West End as well leading historic houses, museums, public and private gardens across the UK, ArtGuard is also becoming a "must have" item for members of the general public who have discovered ArtGuard through such diverse routes as the Metropolitan Police display at the famous Chelsea Flower Show; BBC2's More Front Gardens programme, BBC's Gardener's World and the Hampton Court Garden Show (again courtesy of the Metropolitan Police security presentation).
