ArtGuard understands that effective security in a Museum or Gallery must be invisible, foolproof and discreet. The ArtGuard System offers a flexible, economic and instant security solution which requires no fixing, wiring or damage to the building’s superstructure or its parts.

The ArtGuard System offers a practical, immediate deterrent and alert process that can combat theft, vandalism and unauthorised entry to forbidden areas. The architecture and traditional materials used in historic buildings are ideal for the radio technology utilised in a ArtGuard System.

PUBLIC ACCESSIBILITY

Museums, Art Galleries and Historic Houses are some of the most visited cultural sites in the UK, many with priceless treasures on public display. Other security devices require such artifacts and pictures to be permanently fixed in place — the ArtGuard System allows complete flexibility at all times with no limit to the locations where it might be used. ArtGuard does not demand ‘sight-lines’ or infra-red beams. If required, the ‘Tags’ may be easily relocated on a weekly basis, depending on an exhibition programme.

CONTROL ACCESS

The ArtGuard System is an ideal adjunct to any permanent alarm system that requires the building to be isolated and empty before it is activated. Building entry points may be discreetly ‘tagged’; singular items of value can be protected, as can private storage and other prohibited areas — secured by the affixing of ArtGuard Transmitter Tags.

OUTDOOR EXHIBITS

The Base Station can be located (subject to range tests) in a nearby, occupied building while the ‘Tags’ protect individual objects (eg. Sculpture) in an outdoor exhibition. External buildings with no electricity supply can be “tagged” and protected in this way against illicit entry or vandalism. Country areas, free from random and illegal radiophonic interference common to the city, tend to provide a superior environment for the ArtGuard System and the basic working range has been known to increase significantly.

IN THE GALLERY

The ArtGuard System was first developed for the art gallery with its requirement for a flexible, non-fixed security system to accommodate changing exhibitions. Easily positioned behind a canvas or frame; under or inside a 3-dimensional object, an exhibition in the gallery on at an external display is instantly secured against theft or illicit interference.

Even if an assailant recognises the system, he or she is powerless to bypass the Transmitter Tag — any attempt to remove it immediately alerts the Base Station.

HISTORIC HOUSE BONUS

Many Historic Houses or Museums incorporate volunteer staff to assist throughout the busy seasons. These are often elderly persons who would be unable to deal with a physical emergency. The unobtrusive Panic Button that is included with each System — it can be worn simply as a pendant around the neck — is a means of sounding the alarm immediately in the event of a crisis. Extra Panic Buttons can be requested as required. An all Panic Button System (9 PB’s) can be supplied at no extra cost.

ZONING

Each ArtGuard System is allocated a unique coding sequence. This means that any number of systems can work alongside each other without an alarm/alert on one affecting the other. This allows for effective zoning (eg. in a three floor building, each floor can have its own independent protection — yet the Base Stations for each floor ‘zone’ can be positioned alongside one another in a single location).

Additionally, more than one Base Station can be coded to service an individual group of Transmitters — enabling a dual alert to be programmed. For example: the wing of an historic house might be “tagged” as zone ‘Alpha’. Two Base Stations are programmed to code sequence ‘Alpha’ — Base Station One might trigger at the entrance or reception whilst, simultaneously, an alert (Base Station Two) might sound in the estate/security office to bring assistance.

WARNING

The Police always advise against members of the public attempting to accost or detain criminals caught in the act. It is strongly recommended that the audible DETERRENT of the ArtGuard Series 3 is selected unless there are experienced security officers on site when a silent alarm option might be considered applicable.

ARTGUARD SECURITY SYSTEMS are recognised by leading insurers and in certain circumstances the installation of an ArtGuard System for the garden might have a beneficial effect on premiums.
